Bluebells and Prickles Photography in Fair Oak

There is no denying that a blanket of bluebells is one of the finest sights of the British Springtime, so I decided to take my daughter and muse, Isabelle, out on a ‘bluebell hunt’ yesterday. We were actually filling time during that post-dinner limbo, where you are tempted to give in to the demands of your small ones and let them watch Paw Patrol (or insert Cbeebies favourite here) just to get a few minutes to yourself and start the countdown until their bath and bedtime. However getting out for some fresh air with beautiful scenery was a much nicer use of time!

As a few of my photographer friends had been out taking beautiful bluebell images, I was thoroughly inspired and knew I needed to get in on the action as the bluebell season is so short. So Isabelle and I headed down to Stoke Park woods in Fair Oak to see what we could see. Although there were no really dense areas of bluebells in these particular woods, there is enough to amaze a 3 year old and form a beautiful backdrop for photos.

What I didn’t realise until our photoshoot was this… where there are bluebells, there are prickles! Although I managed to avoid Isabelle sitting on too many brambles, I definitely got spiked. lots. Much to my girl’s amusement – which made for many giggling photos!

Next year I’ll be researching where there are much bigger areas of bluebells and organising client sessions, but for this year at least I’ve got some gorgeous portraits to mark Isabelle just turning 3.

Ah! these are gorgeous Donna! Really lovely!  Prickles are only rife where the woods are ‘unmanaged’ ones. If you go on a hunt over the next few weeks I’m sure you’ll find some without. At least you didn’t tred on a frog like i did!ReplyCancel
